Respiratory Therapy

The Respiratory Therapy Department is staffed by a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner.  Therapy is provided to all ages of patients including inpatients, swing bed, outpatients, clinic patients, home health, and nursing home residents.  Respiratory therapy services are provided to patients with disorders of pulmonary and cardiac systems to include diagnostic testing, therapeutic care, emergency airway management, and patient education.

The Respiratory Therapist maintains certifications in Neonatal Resuscitation, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support.

Diagnostic Modalities include:
  • Arterial Blood Gases (ABG's)
  • Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT's)
  • Peak flow measurement
  • Oximetry and oxygen analysis
  • Respiratory assessments
  • EKG's
  • Holter monitoring
  • Event monitoring
  • Cardiac stress testing
  • EEG's
  • Nerve conduction studies
  • IV catheter placement
  • Sleep studies
Therapeutic Modalities include:
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Humidity therapy
  • Bronchial Hygiene therapy
  • Aerosolized Medication therapy
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Asthma education
  • Smoking Cessation
Emergency Management Modalities include:
  • Resuscitation
  • Airway management
  • Mechanical Ventilation/Assist
